ESPHome Air Quality Setup

Getting Started

This guide will walk you through getting your new ESPHome Air Quality Monitor from Smart Hut connected to your Home Assistant installation.

Before you start make sure your ESPHome Air Quality Monitor is plugged in with a suitable USB-C power cable and adapter.

Getting connected

ESPHome Air Quality Monitor from Smart Hut has Improv enabled by default this means in most cases all you need to do is:

  • Power on the ESPHome Air Quality Monitor
  • Go to https://www.improv-wifi.com/ in your browser and select Improv via BLE
  • This will take you through the process of setting up the connection to your WiFi network. (Note: this process works best in chrome) 

Troubleshooting

Improv isn't working, what do I do?

If the instructions above are not working. You can try connecting manually:

  1. Plug in your device
  2. Wait for an open WiFi network called Air-Quality Hotspot to appear
  3. When you connect to the network you'll be directed to a page where you can input your WiFi network settings.
  4. The page will display the IP address once it has connected to your network.
  5. Home Assistant will auto discover the device and prompt you to complete setup.
